Tips For Caregiver's

People with Alzheimer's disease frequently become more disoriented after dark or when waking. Leaving a night-light on in the bedroom may be helpful.

Pantyhose

Glorious Hats, this is for you...

As you can see from the photos below, Muddear was well put together and absolutely adorable for the funeral. Hey...we've got to make the best out of difficult situations.

Nevertheless, Muddear had a pretty dress, wig, and complimentary jewelry. The only thing missing was pantyhose. Knowing that Muddear ABHORS anything that fits snug, I dreaded both purchasing and making her wear them. To save myself from the emotional pain and suffering, I left Muddear at home and set out on Monday to purchase the pantyhose. Yes...it was last minute. Yes...I struggled with what color to purchase - cream to match the lace on her dress, black to match the body of the dress, suntan to match her skin tone, black because it was a funeral....you get the picture. As though that were not enough, I struggled with what style - thigh highs or control top or re-inforced toe or control top with re-inforced toe, sheer, ultra sheer... the list goes on and on. And finally - What size? While Muddear is petite in stature - "baby got back!" (Are you having Sir Mixalot flashbacks?)

Anyway...I ended up purchasing two pair of Suntan pantyhose with the re-enforced toe - one size A and another size B. In addition I purchased two pair of black knee highs. I simply thanked the good Lord that Sharon had the responsibility of getting Muddear dressed! On Tuesday morning (the day of the funeral) Sharon came downstairs looking exhuausted about 45 minutes prior to leaving.

If looks could kill, I'd be a dead woman! Sharon simply stated...

"Nick...I got the pantyhose on her, but she was pissed! When she comes downstairs DON'T even mention them or you'll be startin a fight!

Just know this...we are N-E-V-E-R doing that again!"

Oh Thank you so much.

I was wondering. And feeling the pain on both sides of the issue. Sorry to say did not think to fret for Sharon. Shall we call her a miracle worker? And Muddear a myrtar?

I still crack up picturing in my mind you taking Muddear into Victoria's Secret for a garter belt and sexy hose.

Funeral services are so important for celebrating the life of the departed one and for letting go of them in this world. Truly applaud you and Mike for getting Muddear and Phil there.

Muddear looks wonderful in the photos. What fabulous friends in Ruth and Muddear, so fortunate to still have each other.

Hope you have some recuperation time and are able to rest up before the next big adventure in caring for your grandmother.

Oh and by the way, really like some of the new things in your Tabi Hats Etsy store. Hugs, Jane

Yes, Sharon was a miracle worker on that day. Honestly, sometimes it easier for her to get Muddear to do certain things than me. I think this is in part due to age. Sharon is almost 60 and while not quite as old as Muddear, definitely older than me. Muddear probably looks at me like a baby! :-)

Oh and thanks for visiting TabiHats. I'm venturing out with new colors that in my mind are not traditionally "baby" colors.
